The main reason passwords need to be created wisely and carefully is that certain types of passwords are easy to crack and break. How is this possible? Well, the hacker relies on software that uses a "brute force" attack. He will try hundreds or even thousands of combinations using the program's functions.
We recommend that you follow the instructions below on how to create a secure password. This will ensure that your account(s) are protected against any hacking attempts.
Passwords and combinations you MUST NOT use
- DO NOT use a password shorter than 8 characters;
- DO NOT use common words that are easy to find in a dictionary;
- DO NOT use personal information such as:
- name
- first name
- friends' names
- pet names
- names of colleagues or popular characters (actors, fantasy or real)
- DO NOT use birth dates, phone numbers, addresses;
- DO NOT use the same password for multiple accounts;
- DO NOT use words and numbers in consecutive order: abcdef, qwerty, zyxwvuts, 12345, 54321, 12332; or any of these in reverse order or with added elements (numbers, letters, symbols). These are easy to decipher in software.
GOOD words and effective combinations
Strong passwords that ensure the protection of your content should be based on the following guidelines:
- Have at least 8 characters (minimum 12 is even better);
- Contain a mixture of upper and lower case letters;
- Contain numbers and symbols combined with letters (examples: 0-9, ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + = ~ ` [ ] { } : ' ; , . / ? | - \ );
- Not a real word in any language or dialect;
- Does not contain any personal information;
- Not noted or stored anywhere online.
- Example: "pAMPh$3let" - the word "pamphlet" as a reference to remember! It is recommended to use words, but not their exact form as found in the dictionary, but in combination with a "twist", such as capital letters + small letters + numbers + special characters, all mixed up.
We hope this is helpful. Write to us if you need more details.
See you next time!
